Mid America Branch Impact Day
The Mid-America branch hosted their second annual Impact Day in April on the campus of Cleveland State University, gathering more than 85 attendees.
Brandy Mickens, Executive Vice President of the Mid-America branch stated, "Impact Day was an opportunity for us to focus on how we can truly make a positive difference in our diverse communities. As part of the day, we were proud to hold student workshops, engage with community leaders, and host a Black Financial Empowerment event. We are on a mission to help close the wealth gap through education, wealth creation and representation!"
On day one, Equitable Advisors presented student workshops on financial planning and networking as well as a student elevator-pitch contest. Five students were awarded a $2,000 Equitable Foundation grants. Additionally, the branch held workshops which included diversity, equity and inclusion leadership training, inclusive recruitment best practices and remarks from Complex President Lou Nuchereno.
On Day two, Equitable Holdings Board Director Arlene Isaacs-Lowe attended and participated as a panelist on "Closing the Racial Wealth Gap" fireside chat during a community leader's luncheon that welcomed business, non-profit and civic leaders from across the greater Cleveland area.
The day culminated with a Black Financial Empowerment event that included networking, an African drumming and dance performance, and most importantly, a powerful message on how we all can make a meaningful impact in the communities we live in and serve each day.
